48. Do members of the Work have to have books approved by their spiritual director before reading them?

It’s been so long since I’ve discussed this that I don’t remember the details, except to say that they are supposed to get approval from their director before reading a book having to do with doctrinal or spiritual matters. They’re definitely not allowed to read certain books like Marx’s Communist Manifesto without getting prior approval. As for books having to do with other topics, I can’t remember. I never did and was never corrected for it, so I didn’t worry about it.
